Award coverage for a nightclub depends on what the primary business of the nightclub is and whether it’s part of another business.

Stand-alone nightclubs

The Restaurant Award covers stand-alone nightclubs.

Example

SysSTEM Night Club operates in an old warehouse space that’s not connected to any other business.

It’s covered by the Restaurant Award because it’s a stand-alone business.

Nightclubs connected to another business

An employee of a nightclub, connected to another business may be covered by one of the following industry awards:

  • The Hospitality Award covers a night club operated by a business in the hospitality industry.
  • The Registered Clubs Award covers clubs established on a not-for-profit basis to benefit members and the community. An employee working in a nightclub run by a registered club will be covered by this award.
  • The Live Performance Award can cover employers and employees in the live performance industry.  For example, employees working in a theatre that occasionally runs a club night will still be covered by the Live Performance Award if they work at the nightclub.

Example

Collision nightclub operates inside a city hotel.

Collision nightclub is covered by the Hospitality Award.

This is because the hotel operating the nightclub is covered by the Hospitality Award.
