Apprentices are paid a percentage of the minimum weekly rate and certain allowances.

The percentage they get may depend on:

  • the apprentice’s age when they started the apprenticeship
  • when they started their apprenticeship
  • the year of the apprenticeship they are in
  • whether they have completed Year 12.

This percentage is calculated on the:

  • minimum weekly rate for an Electrical worker grade 5
  • electrician’s licence allowance
  • industry allowance.

Apprentices are also paid the full amount of the tool allowance.

These payments make up their weekly all purpose rate.
