The Health Services Award covers receptionists working for employers in the health industry, including medical and dental practices.

Receptionists can start at the Support services level 1 classification if they:

• have less than 3 months experience in the health industry
• meet the classification criteria within level 1.

Experience in the industry isn’t the only factor considered. The classification criteria consider the employee's level of responsibility, supervision, experience and training.

An employee will progress to a Support services level 2 or level 3 depending on their level of responsibility, accountability, supervision, experience and training.
