- the type of mine.
Black Coal
The Black Coal Award covers blast machinery operators, if the employer is in the industry of black coal mining.
The classification level will depend on the employee’s skills and duties.
Other mines
The Mining Award covers blast machinery operators if any of the following are being extracted:
- metals, minerals or ores
- phosphates and gemstones
- mineral sands
- uranium and other radioactive substances.
The classification will depend on the employee’s skills and duties.
The Mining Award doesn’t cover blast machinery operators if any of the following are being extracted:
- aluminium
- oil, gas and hydrocarbons
- quarrying of stone, crushed stone, sand and gravel
- salt
- brown coal
- black coal.
These operations are mostly covered by their own industry award.
