To get registered as a pharmacist, a graduate of an approved pharmacy course must do supervised clinical practice. This is called a pharmacy internship.

A pharmacy intern is paid for all time worked during their internship. This includes when they’re doing training required by their employer that’s not part of their internship.

Intern training program

A pharmacy intern is also required to do additional off-site training as part of an internship training program. This training time is not paid time.

Information about registration as a pharmacist and internships is available from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
