Monday to Friday late and early work

Employees get paid additional amounts when they do late and early work, Monday to Friday.

Different amounts apply from:

  • 10pm to midnight
  • midnight to 6am.

The additional amounts are paid for every hour or part of an hour worked.

The additional amounts are paid in addition to:

  • 100% of the minimum hourly rate for full-time and part-time employees
  • 125% of the minimum hourly rate (inclusive of the casual loading) for casual employees.

Employees don't get paid these additional amounts on public holidays.

To calculate the additional amounts, use our Pay and Conditions Tool.

Example

Jonnie is a part-time employee. Jonnie worked a shift from 5pm to 11.15pm.

For the time after 10pm Jonnie gets paid 100% of his minimum hourly rate and the late night additional amount.

Jonnie worked for 1 hour and 15 minutes after 10pm.

Jonnie gets paid the late night additional amount for 2 hours. This is because he worked one full hour and one part hour after 10pm.
