Full-time and part-time pieceworkers get paid leave. Leave accumulates based on their ordinary hours of work.

Leave is paid at the employee's ordinary hourly rate, which is worked out as follows:

Step 1: work out the total amount earned by the employee in the relevant period.

Step 2: divide that amount by the total number of hours worked in the same period.

What is the relevant period?

The relevant period is 12 months for a pieceworker who’s worked continuously for the same employer for 12 months or more.

When a pieceworker has worked continuously for the same employer for less than 12 months, the relevant period is the whole period of their employment.
