Shiftworkers are employees that are only rostered to work shiftwork for a full roster period.

Employees can rotate between being shiftworkers and non-shiftworkers across different rosters.

Employees won’t be shiftworkers or get shiftworker rates if they’re only rostered on shifts for part of a roster.

Example

Bob works for a business which has weekly roster cycles.

Bob looks at 2 of his weekly rosters.

Bob’s week 1 roster shows 4am starts on each of his working days (Monday to Friday). This week Bob is considered a shiftworker and will get shiftwork rates for all of his shifts.

Bob’s week 2 roster shows 4 x 7am starts and 1 x 4am start. This week Bob is considered a non-shiftworker and won’t get shiftwork rates for any of his shifts.
