Employees, other than maintenance or horticultural employees, get paid additional amounts when they do late and early work, Monday to Friday.

Different additional amounts apply from:

  • 7pm to midnight
  • midnight to 7am.

The additional amounts are paid for every hour or on a pro-rata basis for a part hour worked.

The additional amounts are paid in addition to:

  • 100% of the ordinary hourly rate for full-time and part-time employees
  • 125% of the ordinary hourly rate (inclusive of the casual loading) for casual employees.

Employees don't get paid these addtional amounts on public holidays.

To calculate the additional amounts, use our Pay and Conditions Tool.

Example

Kamari is a part-time employee. Kamari worked a shift from 5pm to 9.15pm.

For the time after 7pm Kamari gets paid 100% of his ordinary hourly rate and the late night additional amount.

Kamari worked for 2 hours and 15 minutes after 7pm.

Kamari gets paid the late night additional amount in full for 2 hours. He gets paid a pro-rata amount of the additional amount for the remaining 15 minutes he worked.
