Casuals get overtime when they work:

  • outside the spread of hours
  • more than 10 hours a day
  • more than an average of 38 hours a week.

When a casual works overtime, they get paid:

  • 175% of the ordinary hourly rate for the first 2 hours
  • 225% of the ordinary hourly rate after 2 hours.

The overtime rates for casuals include the 25% casual loading.

What is the spread of hours?

Ordinary hours can be worked between:

  • 6am - 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • 6am - 12pm, Saturday.
