Amusement Award
The Amusement Award covers employees working in a children’s play centre doing duties such as:
- customer service
- monitoring of children on play equipment
- leading children’s activities
- preparing basic food and drinks
- undertaking general cleaning.
Example
Jeremiah works part-time at a trampoline and activity centre for children. The centre also offers services such as birthday parties, and discos for children.
He works at the reception desk and snack kiosk. He sells entry passes, answers customer questions, and sells some food and drinks. Jeremiah also prepares simple food for customers.
Jeremiah is covered by the Amusement Award as a Grade 1 employee.
Restaurant Award
The Restaurant Award covers employees working in a café or restaurant within a children’s play centre or complex if the café or restaurant is a separate business.
Example
Tarek owns Bel-lai Cafe. The café is located within a community complex next to a children’s play centre. Bel-lai Cafe isn’t part of the play centre, although the majority of its customers are also customers of the play centre.
Tarek’s employees are covered by the Restaurant Award.
Example
Play Café is located within a children’s play centre.
The owners of the play centre and Play Café aren’t the same. They have an agreement allowing the café to operate from the play centre premises. The staff of Play Café are employed by the café owners.
