An award or registered agreement could have rules about working in extreme hot weather.

If the award or registered agreement doesn’t say anything about working in hot weather, there is no entitlement to time off under the Fair Work Act 2009.

What if an employee is sick because of the heat?

Employees can take sick leave. Their employer may ask for evidence, such as a medical certificate.

Is there anything else to be aware of?

The workplace health and safety organisation in each state or territory can provide information about safe workplaces and working in extreme hot weather.
