The Annual Wage Review increase doesn’t automatically apply to registered agreement rates.

It’s important to check the agreement to see what it says about Annual Wage Review increases.

Example

Nenad is covered by a registered agreement.

He hears that the Fair Work Commission handed down an Annual Wage Review and wants to know if he gets an increase.

He checks his agreement which says:

‘Wage rates will be reviewed annually and increased based on the increase to the National Minimum Wage by the Fair Work Commission’.

This means Nenad’s agreement pay rate will increase.

If the agreement doesn't deal with the Annual Wage Review or increases, the agreement rates won't increase. The agreement base rate can't be less than the modern award rate.
