A school uniform shop or canteen that’s operated by a school is covered by the Education Services (Schools) General Staff Award.

Uniform shop or canteen not operated by a school

An employer other than a school, for instance a school-based organisation, isn’t covered by the Education Services (Schools) General Staff Award.

What is a school-based organisation?

A school-based organisation is a body that provides advice and services to a government school. They’re generally made up of parents and teachers at the school but may also include community members.

School uniform shop

An employer (other than a school) that operates a school uniform shop is covered by the Retail Award.

This includes uniform shops that are located on school grounds or in retail shopping centres.

School canteen
