Level 1 and 2 employees move up a classification level after each year of service.

For Level 1 employees, classification progression stops after 3 years. For Level 2 employees, classification progression stops after 2 years.

Any service in the classification level by an employee, including administrative and clerical experience with a previous employer, counts towards a year of service.

An employer can ask an employee to provide reasonable evidence to verify their service. An example would be a reference from a previous job in the clerical industry.

Example

Maria has just started a new job as a Level 1.

Before this job Maria spent 2 years working for another employer as a Level 1.

Maria’s new employer classifies her as a Level 1 - year 3.
