Retail industry
The Retail Award covers hair and beauty employees that are employed:
- by retail industry employers, or
- by hair and beauty industry employers but perform work at a retail establishment.
Example
Victoria is a make-up artist. She works in a large department store applying make-up to customers and selling make up products.
Victoria has a Certificate III in Beauty Services.
Victoria is covered by the Retail Award.
She's classified as a level 4 retail employee because she uses a trade qualification in the regular performance of her duties.
Entertainment industry
The Broadcasting Award covers hair and beauty employees that:
- are employed by entertainment industry employers, or
- are employed by hair and beauty industry employers and perform work in the entertainment industry and not in a hair or beauty salon.
Example
Steve is a hairdresser. He works at a television studio styling hair for news presenters.
Steve is covered by the Broadcasting Award.
He's classified as a Hair and Make-up Artist under the television broadcasting stream.
Alpine Resorts industry
The Alpine Resorts Award covers hair and beauty employees that are employed by an alpine resort.
Example
Tyrone is a beauty therapist. He works at a spa and wellness centre within an alpine resort.
Tyrone has a Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
As a qualified Beauty Therapist Tyrone is a Level 6 employee under the Alpine Resorts Award.
