Penalty rates and overtime only apply to general staff.

This means that academic teachers, teachers and tutors/instructors don’t get these entitlements.

Who is a general staff member?

General staff members are employees employed to do work other than as an academic teacher, a teacher or tutor/instructor, and includes employees doing:

• clerical or administrative work
• professional work
• technical work.
