Cosmetic facial injectors are authorised registered health practitioners that prescribe and/or administer facial injections.

Cosmetic injectables are used to reduce facial wrinkles and lines. Two examples of cosmetic injectables are Botulinum toxin type A (‘Botox’) and dermal fillers. These types of injectables are schedule 4 prescription medicines.

Nurse working in a beauty clinic or medical practice

The Nurses Award covers a registered nurse or an enrolled nurse under the supervision of a registered nurse authorised to administer facial injections in a beauty clinic or medical practice.

Medical practitioners working in a beauty clinic or medical practice

Authorised registered health practitioners can include medical practitioners and dentists. If they aren’t covered by an industry award or an occupational award such as the Medical Practitioners Award, they’re award free.

They’re not covered by:

  • the Health Services Award because
    • medical practitioners are excluded from coverage.
    • there’re no classifications for dentists.
  • the Miscellaneous Award because the award doesn’t cover professional employees.
