Service receptionists
Level 3 in the Vehicle Award contains a classification for a service receptionist.
A service receptionist often works at a car dealership or repair business, and generally performs the following types of duties:
- greet customers
- answering and redirecting telephone calls
- provide quotes, book motor vehicles in for servicing
- interpreting warranties on vehicles and parts
- stock control and delivery scheduling
- receive payment
- receiving and distributing deliveries and mail
- incidental administrative duties such as photocopying and filing.
To be classified as a Level 3, a service receptionist working in the vehicle repair, services and retail (RS&R) industry needs to have completed 8 modules of a nationally accredited RS&R Certificate, or equivalent training.
Service receptionists who haven’t completed the required training will be covered by the Clerks Award. The classification will depend on their exact duties and skills.
Other clerical staff
Other employees performing clerical and administrative duties are covered by the Clerks Award. Duties may include:
- processing accounts
- general reception work
- payroll processing.
